TRIKE (named after trycicle) is a project initiated by choreographer Christine Gaigg and composer Bernhard Lang - who both in their own fields work on an ontology of repetition - to investigate methods of looping, sampling and scratching in the live media music, dance and speech. Three dancers, two actors and one musician plough a network of physical, acoustical and emotional movement resulting in a continuous folding in and out, doubling and editing of material. Smallest particles are being copied, varied and cut again to generate a stream of changing significances. Just because no new media appear on the set it is also an aspect of TRIKE to think and perceive a cooperation of analog and digital, quoting Brian Massumi: “Because the analog is always a fold ahead.”
